This summative was the one we had the littlest time to work on, resulting in me having to come in at lunch for a whole week. Since the Create part of the MYP design cycle is worth 1/6 of the overall Design Technology Grade, and there are seven parts to one unit, I think that the time for doing Create should be extended, and shorten the time for Plan. A lot of worry was in my head in the first week of Create, making me unable to sleep because of thinking of solutions to make my model easier to make.

One night, I was thinking about why I in my Plan did I write to make an inside roof, because I was going to build the things on the inside as well, like the air conditioners and the cabinets for food. I decided to take that away from my plan, but I kept the roof just in case if I would decide to use it in another way. When it was the second last day before the due date for Create, I was almost finished making my model but then I realized that the doors I had made were too big, and I thought that it didn’t really matter to have a door anyways, and it did look a lot better without a door because you could peek through the door space and see the inside.

I also decided to have an inclined plane that I could take off and put on again on my shelter, this way making it able to look in the inside of the shelter. I knew that building the model was only ¼ of the whole Create project, but the Linking with the Specification part was only going to take about half a period or so, so I decided to do that very last. All in all the 7S2 DT class only had 6 periods to work on the Create, which adds up to only six hours, minus the time cut off from early dismissals, extended earthquake drills and Thursday assemblies.

The second best thing about coming in at lunch time to work on the models was that we didn’t have to update our Process Journals, which made me worry less about the whole Create stage. The Evaluation for the Create stage didn’t take long, because the way of evaluating I used was just evaluating each period, and that was easy because then I only had to make short paragraphs for the evaluation.
